Link – Master Sword = >:(

By blog on Jun. 6, 2009.

In an interview with Legend of Zelda creator, Shigeru Miyamoto, there was a ‘hint’ given that the only piece of artwork released so far for the next Zelda game on the Wii has an older Link, with no sword. When asked if that meant Link had lost the Master Sword, Miyamoto laughed and said he wasn’t going to say anything further.

Miyamoto san, if you don’t include the Master Sword, I think you deserve to be slapped about the head repeatedly by those train conductors with the white gloves in Japan that push all the passengers on the trains so the doors can close. I saw that line and just thought, what the hell are they thinking!? I know that Miyamoto is the creator of some of the most awesome games ever, Legend of Zelda, Ocarina of Time, The Wind Waker, Four Swords, Minish Cap, Twilight Princess, Phantom Hourglass, Super Mario World, Mario 64, Paper Mario, Mario Kart, Kirby Adventure, Pokemon Red and Blue, Metroid Prime, Donkey Kong, Super Smash Bros. Brawl, and Nintendogs, but I hate this notion of innovation for the sake of innovation. What the hell is wrong with going with what works!? Call me a stickler, but IT SOUNDS GOOD TO ME! As a side note, yes I take my games seriously, especially a franchise that includes many of my all time favorite games.

Link without the Master Sword is like Mario not being able to butt-stomp, it’s bad for gamers, bad for creators, and bad for business. It’s poor thinking! It’s positively stupid! Give us the Master Sword! If I have to go find it in the game, okay, fair enough, but if I don’t have a sword, then I am going to be employing a horde of those train conductor people I mentioned earlier, and Miyamoto will have to prepare for a white-gloved fists of fury!

Of course, this leads me to have a good hearty complain about Spirit Tracks too. Trains… TRAINS!? What the hell’s with that!? How bloody constricting is that!? Oh, can’t go that way, there’s no tracks! WTF!?

Anyway, I need to go take a nap and calm down, because Miyamoto has made me so mad. No sword… rectify this issue, Miyamoto, because I am buying white gloves by the box full, and me and every other pissed off gamer out there will be wearing them and waiting for you. Give us the sword!

Here’s the offending artwork.

Where's my Master Sword, Miyamoto!?
